Policies
Lateness
and Cancellations:
If
you need to cancel your massage therapy appointment, I ask for 24 hours notice so your
time slot can be used by someone else. If I need to cancel, I
will give you the same courtesy. If I am not notified 24 hours
in advance, you will be charged for the session. Please be aware, if you do not show
up for an appointment, you will not be able to schedule another session online.
If you are late, your session may be shortened accordingly. If you are scheduled
for a 30-minute massage session and you are 10 minutes late, that will be treated
as a last minute cancellation. If you are 15 minutes late for a
60-minute massage session or 20 minutes late for a 90-minute massage session, the same
policy applies.  If I am late, you will receive your full table time
if at all possible, or you will only be charged for the time we worked.
I
realize sometimes the unexpected happens and being late is
unavoidable. If you find yourself running late and you
think it will be more than a couple of minutes, please do call
me to let me know. Whenever possible (which translates
to most sessions) I do build additional time into my schedule.
Except in those rare instances when I have clients scheduled
back to back, there will still be time for you to arrive
a couple of minutes late, use the bathroom, and still recieve
the full table time for your massage therapy session. Please note that at Treat Yourself Right,
an hour massage is a full hour of massage time. The clock
does not start ticking until the massage session actually begins, and
truth be told, I do run a little long at times, so please do
let me know if you need to be somewhere else immediately after
your appointment. That said, please allow time in your schedule
for the full session and also a few minutes for you to ease off of
the table before resuming your day. I allow time between
clients so no one needs to feel rushed to clear the way for anyone
else. Please take time to savor your massage therapy session.
"Hurry up and relax" makes no sense!
Confidentiality:
You
can rest assured that your massage therapy session will remain confidential, as it should
be with any health care provider. Your file is available only
to you and those with an authorized release form signed by you.
Payments:
Please
make checks payable to "Treat Yourself Right." "TYRMassage" has also been accepted from
time to time. Checks are certainly as welcome as cash, though a returned check
will incur an additional fee of $35.00 and checks may not be a payment option to Treat
Yourself Right again in the future.
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and AmEx credit and
debit cards are also accepted.
Disclaimers:
I
am not a medical doctor, nurse, or physical therapist. Please keep
in mind that it is not within my scope of practice to diagnose.
If you feel you have a condition which may require medical attention,
see your doctor first. Your doctor's diagnosis could indicate that
massage therapy is inappropriate at this time, or it may help us to determine the
best course of action for your massage session. The more information
you share with me, the more precise I can be in tailoring your massage session
to meet your wants and needs. If you would like, I can
provide you
with a release form and communicate with your other health care providers,
as long as they are also open to direct contact from a Certified
Massage Therapist.
You will
not receive the full benefit if you are under the influence of alcohol
or drugs. In fact, massage could be harmful to you if you are
affected by alcohol or drugs, including some prescriptions and over
the counter drugs. Let me know what you have in your system before we
start.
It is
not my intention to turn anyone away, but the appropriate use of any
therapy, including massage, means sometimes it's better to wait. If
you think there may be an issue at the time you first schedule your massage therapy appointment,
feel free to discuss it with me. It is your responsibility to
arrive in a state of mind and body conducive to receiving therapeutic massage. I will
not be held responsible if you have an adverse reaction to massage while
under the influence if you fail to disclose drug and/or alcohol use,
or if you fail to disclose a condition which contraindicates
massage therapy.
Massage
is a touch therapy, which does NOT mean sexual. Inappropriate behavior
will cause immediate termination of the session with no refund
and may result in legal action.
